The drive to the airport was quiet and still, with Calla trying to hold her breath throughout as the tension in the car was heavy.

Rico hasn't uttered a word since he last spoke to her, and his eyes were glued to his iPad.

It was suffocating in here. She couldn't move her feet or twist her body. She felt cramped, not because the car was small, but because any sudden movement might enrage Rico.

His hurtful degrading words were the last thing she needed right now.

She had already begun to miss Eli, wishing he were here with her. Her fingers unconsciously caressed the lucky charm he'd given her last night, twirling it around her fingers.

'It'll keep you safe at all times,' was what he had told her.
