Chapter 32. Turning Twenty-One
I haven’t celebrated my birthday in so long, naturally. And I am going to turn twenty-one in just a few more hours. Serving the customer their order, I walk behind the counter watching the couple celebrating their anniversary.
Earlier, I used to get very jealous when I used to watch people celebrating but when I started baking and became a part of their happiness in an indirect way, It melted my heart. Even if it was for a while, I liked it.
“They look so lovely together, don’t they?” Mary, the girl who works with me, asks.
“Yes, they really do.” I agree with her. “And that’s why I love this job. Look at their beautiful smiles.”
“By the way, I am sorry because of me; you will have to work overtime.” She says, pouting her lips.
“It’s okay, just study well and don’t be too nervous for your exam,” I told her.
“Have a nice evening.” She says before taking her school bag and running off.
After the customer leaves, I stretch myself like a cat and
