Chapter 36. Bad News Comes Knocking
It was nearly early morning, I believe, when my phone started to ring, and it was from the hospital. We were now standing outside the ICU, and I felt the room suddenly getting dim. My vision was starting to get blurry as I slipped down on the floor. My grandmother had a heart attack.
I could hear Ben’s voice, but it was hard to concentrate on what he was trying to say. Looking, I see Jenny with Isabella and Max behind her as they crouch down next to me.
“Scar….” I hear Jenny’s voice as she rubs my back.
“She is going to be fine, sweetie,” Isabella says.
I looked sideways, and Ben was holding onto me as I rested my head on his chest, concentrating on his smell instead of the hospital smell. It was sickening; it reminded me of the time when I was brought here.
Wrapping one of my arms around his neck, I cling to him.
“It’s gonna be okay, Scarlet.” He whispers, and this time, I believe his words while nodding my head.
“Yes.”
