Chapter 29
With a shaky voice and averting her gaze, she said, "I'm going to be eighteen this year."
I sighed and said, "You two need to talk to him and decide what to do. This is a significant issue, after all.”
Once standing, she assured me, "I will," adding, "Thank you, Dr. Richards."
"It's no problem, Miss Jones," I said with a smile. "One more thing, don't get desperate."
She indicated her assent and then departed.
Sarah and Adam walked in as she opened the door, discussing reports.
"Fancy seeing the man at the top visiting my office," I said, crossing my arms.
He smiled and replied, "It's great to see you, Dr. Richards."
We locked eyes, and then my grin spread across my face. He opened his mouth to speak but shook his head instead.
Sarah handed him a folder and said, "Excuse me for intruding, but here you go, sir."
