Chapter 33

I paced back and forth in my office, going over my lines. I used the weekend after the labor was successful to start putting my life in order.
Once again, it was Monday. Crystal was scheduled to return to the office that morning despite having five days off.
I was going to call or send her a message, but I need help finding her contact info.
"Stupid, stupid," I said to myself.
“Try it again, but this time do it three times as hard,” Catherine remarked. "If we're lucky, you'll give yourself a concussion." She'd taken up residence in my spare chair, and I saw her flipping through a medical lexicon and said, "Here, use this book."
I responded, "You're being quite mean today," and continued to pace.
“Why bother listening to me?" she sighed.
“Why is your underwear all twisted up?” As I finally stopped pacing, I scoffed.
