Chapter 14. He Doesn’t Have My Number
Lila’s POV
The purpose of school was to provide a secure environment. Right?
But I wasn’t safe here.
When I passed the girls who had once smiled at me in class now rolled their eyes or giggled. Someone placed a note on my desk in Chemistry.:
Watch your back Ryder thief.
“What?”
It was crumpled and stuffed into my bag. Previously Leah had tried to alert me.
“They are becoming worse, Lila. Perhaps stay away from Ryder for a while.”
“The question is:
How can I avoid someone I’m not even looking for?”
Leah bit her lip. “Yeah, true. But the girls here are smitten with him. And now they are aiming for you.”
I made a mental note to tell Ryder that we should probably end this fake dating stiff because it wasn’t really helping.
I don’t know why bad things happen to good people. Since they wanted Ryder they should torment him and not me.
