Chapter 20. She Kissed Me Back
Ryder’s POV
I scored another goal and everyone went crazy again and someone in the audience howled like a wolf.
We came back again and Southridge was becoming agitated but I was only warming up to send them home crying like coach has said.
Lila remained where she was, her eyes fixed on me, her hood half-off now. Then it happened and I was prepared for it. I got another nod from Coach. I sped past two defenders and sliced through the center ice as if I owned the rink. The goalie saw me approaching and his eyes darted around.
He lowered himself, arms spread. Too late. I made a flick of my wrist and the puck snapped into the net’s upper corner.
It was a goal!
The horn was honking and the crowd immediately erupted into a song of celebration. But I didn’t join my teammates in celebrating. I didn’t pump my fist. I didn’t highfived Jet and I didn’t share in Blackridge’s High song of victory.
