Chapter 10. Answer
“We presume that the break-in was made by intruders from the other side,” the warrior spoke. “We detected a struggle. Two guards were severely injured, while one unfortunately might die.”
“Ervin,” Alpha Charles said, his face as hard as steel.
“Charles,” Ervin answered.
It was the first time I had heard him call his brother without attaching the title.
“Chris,” Alpha Charles said, referring to the warrior.
“Alpha,” the warrior answered.
“Come with me.”
With that, the three of them exited the dining room.
Although the tension in the air dissipated at their departure, there was still a minuscule tension settling in my stomach. I wondered what had happened; I had never encountered rogues.
I took a bite from my food, wishing and praying that I never would have to encounter them. I have heard stories from people who ventured out of the packs; none was a good story.
