Chapter 13. Assurance
Ginger did not look perturbed at all as she rushed them straight to a ward.
“Another rogue attack?” I asked immediately after she was out. She could hear the panic in my voice.
“No, Hazel,” she said, walking back to the counter. “Relax. Remember when I told you that Ervin went training?” I nodded. “These are casualties from it. They've been training hard lately. They'll be fine in no time,” she assured me.
I was taken aback. The training involved injuries like these? I had never been in training as such.
“Red,” a voice called, walking past the entrance of the infirmary. Even without looking, I could recognize that voice anytime, anywhere. “Is he all” As if sensing my presence, his neck snapped to me. He looked surprised to see me there.
“Yes,” Ginger answered him. “He is being attended to. Ward 012,” she said, pointing to the ward.
He nodded, whispering a silent thank you. He sneaked a glance at me and disappeared into the ward.
