Chapter 12. Warriors
“What was he doing at the borders?” Ervin asked, his hard eyes carefully inspecting the boy.
“No idea, sir,” the warrior answered.
“I had always warned him not to venture out,” Ginger cried. “He would not listen.” She sobbed harder.
“What was he doing at the borders?” Ervin asked again.
Ginger looked up at him, red-faced with tears in her eyes, her red hair in disarray. “He claimed to have sensed his mate in the Western part. I told him,” Her voice broke as she spoke. “I told him it was dangerous. He should be patient until the pack is united. Now he is…” she trailed off, clinging to his lifeless body.
The boy was dead. I could not hear his heartbeat.
Ervin nodded. “Pull yourself together, Red, and take your brother. You know what to do. Take the day off,” he ordered.
Ginger nodded, wiping tears off her face.
“Red,” Ervin called again, his voice soft as he stared at her with emotions. “I’m sorry for your loss.”
