"I'm not married, didn't you hear when I said the marriage got called off?" Imani replied innocently, feigning hurt.

Edmond didn't know whether to believe her or not. He hoped she wasn't lying to him and keeping her marital status a secret from him. He was starting to like her and it would drive him mad to know that she has been married this whole time.
