Chapter 24
NATASHA’S POV
I was sitting in the living room, scrolling through some files on my laptop as the rundown television played in the middle of the room.
“The weather is looking a bit..” The newscaster said but I wasn’t paying any attention to what he was saying. My mind wandered to what Heph did earlier. I couldn’t wait to go see him tonight.
As the clock struck midnight, I carefully opened the creaky door, my heart racing with excitement and a hint of fear of worrying Nana. Nana had taken her medications and gone upstairs to sleep, I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to slip out unnoticed.
That was my chance, the only sound being the distant hum of the crickets outside.
I slipped on my sweater and grabbed my purse, which included pepper spray in case I met any creepy guy, lip gloss, a hair tie and of course my phone.
I reached the front door and slowly turned the handle, wincing as it creaked open.
