Chapter 6
Cassandra walked down the hallway, looking for the kitchen or any room that shared a semblance to it. It was barely seven in the morning, so the mansion was unusually quiet. It was unnerving. She was used to loud noises at the stroke of dawn, cars breezed past her building like flying rockets, and it was pointless trying to sleep.
She chuckled at the thoughts and adjusted her large t-shirt. Back at home, she couldn’t sleep because it was too loud. Here, she couldn’t sleep because it was too fucking quiet!
“How the hell does anyone manage to sleep in here? It’s fucking unsettling,” she grumbled, peering into an open room. It was not a kitchen as she had hoped, but a dining hall. And it was huge.
