Chapter 96. The Call to Belong

Adrenaline coursed through Isaac's veins as he sprinted with all his might after Theresa, who was about to leave for Yukon. And there she was, just a few feet before him, walking briskly with a large backpack covering most of her back.

"Theresa!" Isaac called out.

The woman froze mid-step and turned slowly as if she couldn't believe her ears. When she saw Isaac approaching, her eyes widened in shock.

The young man before her was not the disfigured version of Isaac she had come to know but the one she had first met.

"Isaac?" Theresa's voice was filled with confusion and disbelief.

Isaac hesitated, suddenly unsure of himself. Isaac had rehearsed what he wanted to say on the way here, but now, standing before her, his mind went blank.

"Yes, it's me," Isaac said quietly.

"But how?" Theresa gasped. "Your face..."
