Chapter 128. Tension
The car glided through the city streets, the hum of the engine the only sound between us. I could feel the weight of Bradley’s gaze occasionally flicker towards me, but I kept my focus on the passing scenery. His words echoed in my mind, louder with each passing moment.
It was then that I realized that I needed to focus on something else or I was going to go crazy.
Glancing at my phone’s screen for a few seconds, I saw that it was past noon, and when Josh’s name popped up on my screen, I remembered that I needed to see him. He and I needed to talk about a lot and I also had to meet Nora’s parents today too.
“Bradley,” I broke the silence at the same time that he spoke, “Lisa.” Both of us chuckled weakly and then I continued, “Can you please drop me off at the next bus stop? I need to be somewhere.”
“Or I could just drive you where you’re going, makes sense that way,” He replied coldly.
