Chapter 132. Hope or No Hope

Nora’s father met my gaze, his eyes narrowing as if trying to see if I truly understood the depth of his pain. For a moment, I thought that he might lash out and chew me out, but then his expression softened, the anger giving way to a profound sadness. 

“It’s not fair,” He said quietly, his voice thick with emotion. “None of this is fair.” 

His words brought me to tears and I could not stop the few sobs that escaped my mouth as hot tears slid down my face. “It’s not,” I whispered under my breath as I sniffled. Josh held my shoulder and brought me close to him as a way to comfort me and remind me that he was there for me. 

And honestly, I really appreciated it because it made me feel like I was not alone. Gosh, I missed my grandma so much. I missed her voice, her jokes, her smile; I missed her. I also missed Nora and the thought that she had been killed violently like that made my skin crawl. 

What if I was next? What if another loved one was next
