I wished for an answer and the longer I waited, the more anxious I got. “Mark, where’s my dad?”

He ran his hand through his hair and sighed before leading me to the living room for us to sit.

I did not hesitate, I just wanted to know where my father was and if he was home and safe. I sat down next to him and looked at him for answers.

My eyes begged him, I just needed to know. Was Josh honest with me? Did he really let my dad go?

“Lisa, you dad didn’t come home. Only your car was home by detective Jacobs and his team. They couldn’t find him and they could not hold Josh because there was nothing tying him to the kidnapping.”

I scoffed. Was this a joke? Was Mark trying to pull one on me? This had to be a prank, right?

“But…” I shook my head in disbelief. “But Josh…he said that he let my dad go.”

“Well, he didn’t. You really can’t trust him, and you can not just go over to him anytime he wants. He’s dangerous, Lisa.”
