Chapter 279. No Approval

The cold air hit me as I walked into the building. Today was different, it was not snowing and all the snow that had been out in the streets yesterday had actually melted. The sun was up today and it brought that a warmth that was comforting. 

As we walked down the hallway, my heart rate increased. I was now more anxious than ever. But this was what I had signed up for. This was what I wanted, if Josh was going to let a man die, I would rather that the guy know why he was dying. 

“Are you okay?” He asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. “You seem…quiet.”

“I’m fine,” I replied dully. “I’m just still a bit annoyed from being woken up from the construction work.” 

“Renovation,” he corrected me and I rolled my eyes playfully, causing him to chuckle. That also helped the tension to die down a bit.
