Chapter 43. The Box of Things

The room was filled with tension that I could not explain but it was hanging in the air, over our heads. He kept his eyes on me, almost as if he was trying to find the right words to say. “Lisa, I am sorry but as I said, last night you hurt me.” 

I made a small sound with my tongue and teeth before turning around and walking away. He did not stop me and I was grateful that he did not. I walked out of his office and then went down the hall before reaching the elevator. 

I pressed the button for the lobby and the automated doors opened. The lift was empty and I was more than grateful for that. I got in and the doors closed by themselves before I was taken down. 

When I finally came to a stop, the automated doors opened again and I walked out. I had some anxiety as I walked through the lobby and maybe that was because I feared that a lot of people would be watching me.
