Chapter 25
“Oh my God! What’s happening?” The panic in Diana’s voice was louder than a siren. She stared at the ceiling of the lift and spread her palms at her sides, face down, as if they could support her if another jerk happened.
“Shit!” Fred cursed and ran for the elevator controls. He pressed countless buttons and got through to the front desk.
“Urgh! What is this?” Diana grunted and gripped the sides of her head like a bomb about to detonate.
Fred held out a placating hand. “I know what it looks like, but this doesn’t happen all the time.”
“So, what’s causing all of this?” She flung her hands widely in the air, utterly frustrated. “My bad luck?”
Fred gave her a look that had her eyes widening in vexation. He wasn’t exactly helping.
“This must be a joke.”
“Well, it’s not, but you have to relax. We have at least thirty minutes to an hour in here.”
