From where I sat, the glow from the rooftop restaurant looked like the kind of place where people went to fall in love. Or confess it.
I hated that I even knew that. Hated that I’d driven all the way here just to watch them. Dahlia and Adrian.

I ignored him, eyes fixed on the glass panels above. Through them, I could see silhouettes — one of them hers. Even from here, even through tinted glass and distance, I knew the way she moved. The tilt of her head, the way she crossed her arms when she was uncomfortable. I knew it all too damn well.
