“Dahlia, wait!”

I pushed through the tables, ignoring the startled faces turning our way. The sound of her heels against the marble echoed sharp and angry as she stormed toward the entrance. My heart pounded so hard it hurt.

“Dahlia, please!” I caught up to her just as she hit the call button. She spun around, tears already streaking her face.

“Why, Sebastian?!” she shouted, her voice trembling. “Why do you always do this?”

“I can explain.” My voice came out rough, desperate.

“Explain what? This?” She gestured wildly, the motion almost breaking as another tear slipped free. “You order me around like you own me! You’re domineering…and controlling…you treat me like a child. All for what? You tell people to stay away from me, but you can’t even…” Her voice crack
