Chapter 28
SEBASTIAN
“It’s not what you think, Loren,” Dahlia tries to save the situation, but I can tell from Loren’s face that she isn’t planning to believe anything anyone says.
“Dahlia,” my baritone draws both their attention. “Leave us.”
“Ar…”
“Yes. Leave us. I need to speak with Loren alone.”
With hesitation in her steps and stammer, Dahlia eventually leaves, and Loren’s glare follows her before returning to me after the door closes.
“I know this is not what you want,” I start.
“What are you talking about? A chance to make you suffer for being reckless? This is what I want. You need to learn that everything can’t be about you.”
“No. Not that. I’ve seen you work with me, day and night, during good times and bad. Now, you might want to hurt me. But I know you don’t want to hurt the company. And considering that you’re one of the most intelligent people I know, I know you have thought of how your actions would affect the company.”
