DAHLIA
“Wow, Dahlia. You’ve gotten really great at this,” Emily praises me as I serve the platter board for the customer, beaming with smiles.
“So this is what Boss meant when he said you were a restaurant assistant,” Emily adds as she pulls another note closer from the order rope. “I wish I could have your job.”
“What do you mean?” I ask her, cleaning up my pan for another fresh dish.
“Don’t try to be humble. It’s obvious. You get to assist in any role you wish. From cooking in the kitchen to making drinks, serving… except,” she pauses and shoots me a quick side look. “Toni has banned you from serving. But…” her voice gears up again. “You get to work anywhere. Isn’t that amazing?”
“Not really,” Jasper cuts in on our conversation with his usual sulk aura. “Not having a place to identify yourself can be overwhelming. She has to learn too many things at once, hence… a jack of all trades.”
“Well, what’s wrong with being a jack of all trades?”
