I drop the call and look up to Loren. “What is it?” I finally ask when I cannot decipher her expression.

“I don’t get it.”

“Get what?” I ask again, slightly getting amused by her usual strategy of stalling before getting to the point. Loren has been with me since day one. Though I know she could have left my restaurant for a bigger company, especially since she has a master’s in business management and a high-level diploma in food science and technology, I am just amused that she remained with me.

I quickly recall the day under the rain when she stopped me just before I wanted to give up on my business. She told me that she’ll stay with me till the end. She said she’d make me successful.
