Chapter 62
DAHLIA
“What do you want to talk about?”
I whispered to Aidan at the door.
We should talk. There are quite a lot of questions I want to ask him too.
“Let’s take a walk. Shall we?” He said, leading the way.
We stepped out into the hallway, then made our way outside into the quiet terrace that overlooked the back lot. There was a soft breeze, and Aidan lit a cigarette with a flick of his silver lighter. He didn’t offer me one—he knew I didn’t smoke.
Not that he asked; he just knew. He took a long drag, watching the smoke drift upward.
“Well then,” he said after a beat. “You’re quite the firecracker, aren’t you?”
I shrugged, pretending like my heart hadn’t been racing since I sat in that meeting. “I just said what made sense.”
He grinned sideways at me. “You said what he wouldn’t say.”
I didn’t respond. He didn’t need me to.
Aidan’s eyes narrowed, but not unkindly. “You’re in love with your boss.”
I scoffed.
