Chapter 31

Now, the children were left alone in front of the tunnel. They were scared but excited to make more progress on their journey. They had a renewed sense of strength after hearing Marco’s words after receiving the merfolk’s gift. Ryan went first, then Chloe. Julie looked back one last time at Merfolk Paradise before she followed her two friends into the tunnel. It wasn’t a dark tunnel. There were small holes in the sand wall that let sunlight in from the outside.

“What do we have to worry about in this next world again?” Chloe asked.

“The harpies,” Julie and Ryan said in unison. They locked eyes for a moment, and Julie blushed slightly. It’s like we share the same mind or something, she thinks. She was embarrassed by that thought. She didn’t believe in stuff like that normally, but all this magic was starting to get to her. It was changing the way she thought.
