Chapter 32

When they saw Julie, both kids gasped. They were immediately taken aback by the sight of her wings. Then, they each reached to their shoulders and felt their wings. They all looked around at each other in awe.

“This is amazing!” Julie cried out.

“It’s incredible!” Chloe agreed.

Ryan’s eyes were wide in amazement. “This is freaking cool.”

Julie tried to focus all her mental energy on her shoulders where the wings were and mentally urged them to move her forward. It worked. Julie was flying straight ahead, and then she turned in a tight circle to come back by Ryan and Chloe.

Ryan held the compass out in front of him and watched as the needle settled. “This must be the way to the next portal,” Ryan said. “I was thinking of where we want to go, so hopefully this thing works the way the guard said it does.”
