We sat side by side in silence beside the grave, no words needed to be said, I understood that, and allowed him to brood in silence. My mind drifted to my Mom and I felt my heart tightened in my chest, the thought that I’d never see her again, at times I purposely didn't think of her as I wanted to believe she’s still alive.
“I have to accept she’s gone.” I turned to look at him. “My mom I mean, and I can’t do this without saying goodbye.”
“What are you suggesting?” He inquired, plucking out a nearby rose and inserting it in my hair.
I smiled. “I’m thinking of going back home, outside of the island to say goodbye to my Mom, I never got the chance to see her and when she died, I sort of blamed her for things she has no control over. I understand better now so I want to confront those emotions, after the full moon of course.” I stood up, my eyes glued to the graves.
