Chapter 12
“Jill, talk to me,” Vince said to me.
I wriggled my hand off of his. “I have nothing to say to you.”
“You won’t even say hi?”
“Hi,” I said plainly. “All good?”
“No.” He sounds upset. “I was happy to see you, and now you’re walking away.”
“Then, just be happy and go on your way. We don’t have to greet each other nor even talk.”
“What if I want to ask you something?”
“What do you want to ask?”
“Why did you kiss me back then?”
That stumped me. There was no way to dodge that blow. He was being straightforward with a serious face. Should I tell him that that was a way for me to move on?
“Answer me.”
I can’t. There’s nothing I can think of at the moment to honestly say to him with logic. That kiss was all emotion. A way for me to think clearly and to finally be free. But now that he’s here, that seems pretty stupid.
