I shortened my vacation and insisted on returning as I discussed it with the manager. I simply told him I had an emergency at home that I needed to attend to. They were nice enough to put me through the flight and check-out, and soon after, I got back to the city.

I met Lisa and Jia at the hotel room where I'm staying and told them about my trip, including meeting with Vince.

"And on business, apparently," I added.
