Chapter 16

Zayla’s heart is breaking for a whole new reason. It’s no longer about being a possible mistress but rather at the fact that Kayden has been grieving for so long.

“I’m sorry.” She uttered, her hands reluctantly reaching out towards the hurting man in front of her and hug him, feeling helpless. She wanted to kick herself for what she’s done ever since she stepped foot in his life. She’s been nothing but a nuisance, pushing him to open up something that’s not hers to see. She pushed herself in his life without even considering the possibility of him hurting.

‘Helpless and selfish.’ She scoffs at the impression she’s probably going to leave Kayden with of her. She’s torn between feeling mad at herself but also relieved because ‘At least I didn’t seduce him. He’s not married, technically.’

Kayden pulled away from the hug, startling her, but soon felt confused as she was led back outside, the flames now simmering down into smoke as every piece of wood had turned to char
