Chapter 27
‘The sun is setting. Ready on my signal.’ Kayden gave out the order to start the manhunt once the sun sets so they could shift into their wolf forms without raising suspicions from human bystanders. They also unanimously decided on this because their wolves have better senses. They could catch Jackson’s scent, see better, and even hear better. They also tend to be more agile in such a primal state that they are able to maximize their abilities.
One by one, the men shift. Bones cracking and howls greet as the moon appears in the sky.
It was always a painful process though — the shifting. To plainly put a description as to what it similarly feels, it’s like puking. Their stomachs, their guts, and their intestines feel like it’s getting rearranged. Or it’s like they ate something rotten which caused them to feel like puking. But instead of releasing it through their throats, they release it through their backs. The pain is tenfold because it rips their back as they barf out
