Chapter 6. Wild Weird
Mary rubbed her bleary eyes. She had been abruptly awakened in the middle of the night, precisely at three o’clock. She found herself enveloped in a world that seemed to be in deep slumber while she was the only one who was wide awake.
The silence was so profound that it became ominous, and she couldn’t help but feel like something was lurking in the shadows. She seemed to have not forgotten what the weird man who brought her the blanket told her. The more she tried to shake it off her mind, the more she heard the whisper of the man in her ears. She tried to shake off the feeling of unease that crept up on her, but it was hard to ignore.
Mary lay there, staring at the ceiling, wondering what had woken her up. She thought to herself that it could have been a nightmare, but the stillness of the night made it hard to believe that anything could be imagined. Her instinct was telling her to get up and check around the house to make sure everything was okay.
