Chapter 9. Scared Like Hell
He slumped to the ground and breathed heavily. “What was that?”
Mary smirked. “You asked for details of what happened. So, I decided to show you.” Her eyes returned to normal as she slowly descended to the floor. “I unlocked my powers.”
Clinton dragged himself up and peered at her with suspicion. “How was that even possible?” He couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. Mary had stirred fear in him and made him hear things that were not real.
“I have no idea,” she admitted, still keeping her secret to herself. She wasn’t ready to trust Clinton with such an encounter. She narrowed her gaze at him and continued. “All you need to know right now is that I know who I am and what I am capable of doing.”
Clinton broke into a soft smile. “I guess no one is gonna mess with you then.”
“Damn right,” she grinned.
