The other day when Mason and I had made a deal while playing a video game together, he had won the sixth round and I had asked him to state what it was that he needed from me. I had assumed that he was going to say that he wanted me to make some food for him, buy him a toy or probably give him some money to get snacks or what other kids of his age might say that they wanted.

However, he had surprised me when he told me that he wanted me to come to his school and stand in as his guardian. Harmony didn’t know this, but her brother, Mason, was being teased every term when he attended events alone, and collected his results alone. He didn’t want to bother her, but he had confided in me and I had agreed to go for his seventh grade end of the session mini class party.
