As intrigued as he was by her, he was becoming more and more suspicious.
He’d thought she was just a mark, but the red flags were beginning to tally up, one right after another, until there were too many to ignore—Fear letting her go from the club, Rhye ‘losing her,’ how taken they’d been with her since the moment they laid eyes on her.
That she’d shown up here, on the one night they were scheduled to meet with Orin, tipped the scales from coincidence to full-blown skepticism. She’d appeared genuinely surprised to see them, but it seemed entirely too suspect to be happenstance.
Her motives, however, were a mystery to him. Perhaps, she was a fawner trying to get close to him because of his position. But, maybe, it was something more devious.
