Chapter 32
When Rhye returned to her side, he swiftly took the spot beside her and pressed a cold cup of water into her hands.
"Here… take this, drink," he ordered softly. "It will help revive your strength."
Livia nodded and did as she was told. The cool water trickling down her throat was heaven, and she took a moment to gather herself before turning to thank him for the thoughtful gesture.
The phrases died on her tongue from the natural curiosity she saw echoed in his blue-green stare. This close to him, she could see the golden flecks within, and the almost golden starburst ringing his pupils. The color was so unique that she caught herself staring, drowning in the vigor of his trustworthy attention.
"Thank you," she whispered, leaning her head back against the mirrored wall so she didn’t lean forward to kiss him.
Rhye lifted his hand and cupped her face in one calloused palm. The pad of his thumb stroked along her jawline.
"Are you feeling better?"
