Someone had been there.
She couldn’t see anything amiss, had no proof, other than the tingling awareness and the intuition she trusted above all else. But, those were enough. They had never steered her wrong before, and she wasn’t about to start doubting herself now.
She unfurled her power and let it unfurl outward, sending tiny tendrils in every direction to search out the threat.
Nothing.
The only thing she sensed was the lingering feeling of something... bitter. She could almost taste it, almost smell it. It was acrid, like rotting lemons, and repulsive, akin to spoiled garbage with an undertone of wet dog.
