The encroaching autumn air stole some of her warmth until Rhye brushed against her as he exited the gym, standing close, guarding her while she was locked up.
Like a true gentleman, he walked her to her car, the soft thud of their footsteps the only sound between them. Every step felt like a decision she had to consciously make over and over again, one that would take her away from Rhye.
Livia knew what she had to do, and knew she was making the right choice, but it didn’t make it any easier. As much as she needed the downtime to process everything on her own, she hated to leave him.
