Leah’s POV
I don’t know how it happened, but it did. I fell asleep on the pillows that I had placed on the ground. When morning came, I woke up to someone shouting. I did not know where it was coming from but I jolted awake, my heart pounding in my chest.
At first, I did not know where I was or what was going on but then everything started coming back to me. Even the conversation that I had with the woman last night, it all came back in vivid detail.
I sniffled, standing to my feet and stretching a bit as I yawned. I was very hungry, and the day had just started. The voice continued in the hallway. It did not sound like it was coming from one of the guards or anything.
It sounded like it was one of the prisoners, and he was not even shouting anything that made sense. He was just blurting out random things, especially colors. “Red! Red! They’re going to paint us red! Then it will all be black!” He continued.
