Chapter 124. The Cold Doorknob
Leah’s POV
The doorknob was cold when I touched it. The door was already opened because I had opened it, but I was still holding onto the knob. And I was grateful that I was, because it felt like it was grounding me.
I felt like it was keeping me from fainting.
I released a shaky breath as I took in everything that was in the room, or at least the scene that had my mind reeling.
“Please…help me,” The man said, he was chained to a chair and had so many bruises and marks on his body. He was half-naked, only in his boxers. One of his eyes was swollen and purple. “Please…”
I stepped into the room, closing the door once I was in. The voice at the back of my head was telling me to run; telling me that this had nothing to do with me and that I needed to get the hell out of here.
