Leah’s POV
Seven years. Seven damn years.
That was way too long. That was unbearably long. There was no way that it would happen to me too, right? There was just no way. Rafael wouldn’t allow it, but the very thought or fact that I was replaceable made my heart sink.
So that meant that it was a possibility. And that scared me more than anything at the moment.
My knees buckled and I slid back down to the floor, this time not even bothering to fix the pillows. The awful smell still lingered in the air, it was not going anywhere. It was my cellmate, and it was my best friend right now.
My chest was tight and my mind was racing. Rafael had said three days. He promised me. But how many promises had I believed in before, only to be proven wrong? I mean, he has not lied to me once but still, he was the son of a mafia family. Lying had to be a part of him.
If who he was was a job, lying would be on his resume
