Chapter 3. Get Out!

Leah’s POV

With a racing heart, I headed for the group. They all stared at me, and I felt like burying myself in the deepest pit ever.

“Vanessa, you never told me that you had a hot friend. Who is she?” A guy with blonde hair asked. He kept his eyes on me as if he wanted to grab me and drag me into a bedroom right this second.

Maybe other girls would like this, but I hated it.

“She’s Leah, stupid,” Vanessa replied, giggling like she was already drunk.

“Vanessa, can we talk?” I asked her, ignoring the guys. I needed to get her away from them. She was prey right now, and they were hardcore predators. I needed to save her.

“Talk? It’s a party, Leah.” She rolled her eyes as she started to suddenly dance to the music that was playing, grinding against the blonde haired guy.

“Vanessa, I’m serious. Please, we need to talk.” I was literally begging her at this point.

“Or you can come and grind on my d*ck,” the other guy said; he had purple hair, obviously dyed. He winked at me, and his friends laughed freely.

I clenched my fists and grabbed Vanessa’s wrist, pulling her closer to me. “Let’s f*cking go, Vanessa!” I said in a harsh whisper.

“Fine!” She yanked her wrist from my grip and finally followed me away from the guys. She led the way and even dropped her drink to the floor. When she came to a stop, I was right there. “What are you? My mom?”

“Hey, hey, hey. Where is this coming from? I’m only trying to help. If Ben finds out you’re grinding on another guy, he’s going to lose his sh*t.” I just had to help her. Ben was her boyfriend. They have been dating for years now.

They really loved each other, but both of them have anger issues, if I was being honest. So yeah, their highs were high, and their lows would be real low.

“F*ck, Ben,” She replied, her voice cracking. “I’m going to f*ck every guy that I can tonight, Leah. and even you can’t stop me.” She tried to walk away, but I stopped her by grabbing her wrist again.

“Wait…Vanessa, please…” I tried to get her to talk to me even more but she kept pulling away from me, trying to walk away. “Just talk to me, please. What happened between you and Ben?”

She finally yanked her wrist from my grip and locked eyes with me, tears falling from her eyes. “He broke up with me, Leah.” Her voice was breathy and filled with so much emotion. “He f*cking broke up with me.”

“But…why? I mean, I know Ben to be aggressive and have anger issues, but he has never tried to break up with you before. In fact, you’re the one always doing so.”

She scoffed. “Are you f*cking for real right now, Leah? You’re my f*cking best friend, and you’re taking his side?!”

“No, no, no,” I tried to explain myself as quickly as I could. “Vanessa, you know that’s not what I’m trying to say.”

She chuckled dryly before dropping her weed to the floor. Her eyes were red, and her pupils were dilated. “Get out.”

“Vanessa…”

“Get the f*ck out of my party, Leah,” she said in a monotone.

Tears filled my eyes, and my brain was still trying to catch up with what was happening and how fast everything was going. “Come on, Vanessa.” I took a step close to her, and that was when she shoved me hard.

The heels gave way, and I fell to the ground, causing everyone to stop and look at what was going on. Even the DJ turned off the music and stared. People were now recording. “Vanessa, what the f*ck?” I asked her, my heart pounding in my chest and adrenaline rushing through my veins.

“Get the f*ck out of my house!!” she screamed the words at me, and it felt like I had been stabbed in the chest with a huge kitchen knife. I know that she was hurt, but that gave her no right to treat me how she was treating me.

I was a best friend, for crying out loud.

I swallowed hard, the lump in my throat getting bigger. I pushed myself up and pulled my dress down as hot tears rolled down my face. I glanced around and everyone was looking at me. Most of them were recording, and a few of them were laughing and whispering.

I looked at Vanessa one last time before walking past her and making my way out of the house. This made sense. That was why I was getting the bad sign—the left eye twitching.

Tears continued to run down my face, and my chest felt so heavy. I was hurt; I really was. And I was shocked. Everything had happened so fast, and I was still confused if I was being honest.

When I reached the door, I took off the heels and held them in my hands as I ran. This was the worst night of my life. And I was praying to just wake up from my bed, but the more my heart felt like it was being stabbed over and over, the more I realized that this was real, that this was my life.

I ran towards the car and unlocked it before getting in and making sure I had my seatbelt on, even though I was shaky. I then started the car and drove away from the mansion as fast as I could.

More tears ran down my face, and as I used the back of one of my hands to wipe them away, I heard a loud sound, followed by an impact so powerful that the car flipped over in the air and came back to the ground in a sickening way.

It seemed to be happening so fast but so slow at the same time.

My body was punched by metal from almost everywhere, and when everything finally stood still, the metallic taste of blood filled my mouth as I hung upside down.
