Chapter 6. Your Life Is About to Change

Leah’s POV

Did I hear the guy right? Did he say that I was supposed to be his bride? I shifted on my feet, ignoring the pain running through my body due to the movement.

“Um…” I began, grabbing their full attention now. “I think you guys made a mistake. I–I don’t have anything to give. I don’t come from a wealthy family, and I’m not even the prettiest girl. I’m basic and—”

“No one asked you, Leah. We chose you for a reason,” The older man said. He stood to his feet and adjusted his seat. He walked towards me, keeping his eyes trained on me as he did so. “You are perfect. You are someone who would stay in line and be submissive. It’s clear that you don’t have pride. So yeah, you’re perfect, dear.”

“Perfect?” I replied, my voice shaky as tears threatened to spill from my eyes. “Please…I just want to go home. I will do anything. Just let me go home, please.”
