Chapter 72. Interrogation
Rafael’s POV
The mention of her name made my heart skip a beat. She was my wife, even though it was by an arranged or contract marriage, she was mine. She did not want any of this, she never did, all she wanted was to be able to go back home; to her life and family.
That was all she wanted. But sadly, my parents had to play god and do what they always do: take without asking and feel like they’re entitled to it.
“Leah Payne,” I repeated her name. I shook my head and folded my arms on my chest. “This is the first time that I have heard that name.” My voice was oddly calm. I guess my father’s traits of being a liar and manipulator were kicking in, but for how long?
“Are you sure? You’re telling me that you have never heard that name in your life?” He narrowed his eyes on me.
“Never in my life.” I shrugged while locking eyes with him. “Like I said, I don’t know who you’re talking about and it’s my first time hearing that
