Chapter 33. Confessions and Confusion
Leila’s POV
I clamped a hand over my mouth as the sharp intake of breath threatened to spill over. The air was too thick, too heavy, and it realized abruptly how much hung in the balance.
Then came the receding steps towards the door and I ran to a corner in the hallway. For some seconds, I kept silent, standing in utter stillness, not daring to move, for it was as though my body must shiver to pieces with the strenuousness of the effort to keep down the flood of emotion swaying, bitterly, from side to side in my brain.
I just couldn’t shake off the tension that had been in the air since yesterday. The argument that blew between Dominic and Luca kept rewinding into my mind like a broken record.
I pulled a light sweater from a hanger and grabbed some jeans, resolving that I was going to get some answers from him. My mind couldn’t run with that in my head.
