Chapter 34. Tightrope Walking
Leila’s POV
By the time Luca arrived to take me out on our date, I was a ball of nerves. Dominic was running late at the office. I guess this was Luca’s way of handling it.
I had agreed to the whole ordeal, which was fine, but deep down, I could not shake the idea that Dominic would find out. A pissed-off Dominic could turn my stomach into knots. Yet, Luca had been so sincere, so enthusiastic, that I wouldn’t have been able to say no.
“Where are we going?” I asked as casually as I could after we pulled away from the mansion.
He grinned, turning his head to look at me. “It’s going to be a surprise.”
“A surprise?” I upturned an eyebrow at him, the scenes of torturing minds coming too thick and fast to not border on trepidation.
“Don’t worry about anything,” he chuckled. “I just thought we could do something fun, something to help you relax.”
