Iris’s POV
“Things could change, Father. Everything could go back to the way it was.”
I held onto the hope that he would see reason, that he would realize this could work in my favor—in our favor.
But he merely scoffed. “Listen to me, Iris. Do not come here and ruin the mess you created—a mess I have spent months trying to fix. Don’t do that.”
“Father...” I called softly, but he turned away, dismissing me without a second glance.
“So you’re in support of Adeline?”
He exhaled loudly, losing his patience completely.
“I am in support of no one! Understand this and understand it clearly.”
“You’re not even happy that I’m back?”
He laughed bitterly.
“Happy? You expect me to jump on you after ten months? You disappeared without a trace, without thinking of anyone but yourself!”
“That wasn’t my fault, Father,” I defended.
“Well, that’s your business.” He shook his head. “I just hope your sister realizes he needs
