Chapter 48. Old Wounds
Adeline’s POV
I didn’t need a seer or some divine revelation to know that Iris wasn’t here to mend fences.
She had come to make me pay, to drag me through the fire for taking her place.
And as much as I wanted to deny it, I knew my sister better than anyone. This wasn’t about reconciliation. This was about retribution and revenge.
“What do you want, Iris?” I asked.
She tilted her head, “Wow. It seems you’ve grown some liver. You’re not the little naive girl I thought you were.”
“Tell me, what happened?” I pushed, already exhausted from everything that had happened in the past months.
The last thing I needed was for Iris to pour salt into an open wound.
She sighed dramatically. “I’m finally ready to listen to your story”
I folded my arms.
“Aren’t you going to allow me in, or do you expect me to ask for permission before walking into my man’s home?” she taunted.
I stiffened at the way she said it. “My man.”
